This past weekend I went out with my buddy with his MKIV Supra. We were just planning on doing some shakedown runs just to see how well tuned the car was.
The event was at Texas Mile, held twice a year in Goliad, TX. At this event you get a 1 mile stretch to see how fast you can go and 1/2 mile to shutdown.
1st Run, slow start rolling and by the 2/5th mile mark got on the gas and by the 3/4 mark hit 187mph!
All the guys this weekend as we were told by the officials were trying everyday to get past 200mph but couldn't.
2nd Run, slow start (decided the car had more than enough power to hit 200mph), didn't get on the gas until the 1/2 mile mark (you will see in the video how easy he took it on the first 1/2 mile almost looks slow) and by the end of the 1 mile trap we got a new record of 201mph for street cars! Didn't plan on breaking any records, so I guess we got lucky! The boost was even turned off completely and running only on the wastegate spring. Pretty impressive because there was also 30mph headwind that was against us.
I can only imagine if my friend had turned the boost and actually tried to go fast from the get go to see what trap speed he would've gotten.
This is the Fastest Offically Recorded Top Speed for a MKIV Supra at a sanctioned event. So history was made on this day.
I made a quick dirty video of the event. Enjoy it.
Yes, we were suprised that we broke the record. We weren't expecting anything, it was our first time out doing high speed runs. Next time we are shooting for 220mph.
Sweet Jesus. That's an impressive accomplishment, congrats! Do you guys have a page on TO4R.com? Just wondering cause I wanted to read some more stats on the car. Plus with 1,128rwhp you have the 3rd most hp on that site behind Ryan Woon and Peter Blach's car.
